EDLC Series Electric Double Layer Capacitors/Supercapacitors

TDK's electric double layer capacitor (EDLC) is a charge storage device that offers higher capacitance and higher energy density than an electrolytic capacitor. The EDLC stores charge using an electric double layer formed by ions adhering to the surface of an activated carbon electrode and can be charged in a matter of seconds (see Figure 1). The EDLC series products are constructed with the latest material and processing technologies and feature high capacitance and low resistance. Because a metal foil laminated film is used for packaging, EDLC series products are small in size with a low profile, allowing for space-saving designs. These components are excellent for a wide range of applications, including memory backup in electronic devices, battery load leveling in mobile devices, energy harvesting, and more.
