Designers are frequently looking to reduce the size of a DC/DC converter to incorporate additional functions in their system. The LTC3867 is a full featured synchronous step-down DC/DC controller that reduces the size of the output capacitor with the use of a nonlinear control method. Nonlinear control speeds up the operating frequency during a step-load which reduces the maximum voltage deviation (up to 50%) from nominal, allowing for the use of a smaller output capacitor.
