Shown on this slide is some power performance data about the C553x DSPs. As mentioned, the C553x DSPs are low power processors. Here it can be seen how the power consumption compares with the nearest DSP competitor. At 50 MHz, the C553x DSPs are about two times lower in power consumption than the competitor’s device, that is up to two times more battery life. These numbers have been compared for 75% Dual MAC and 25% Add operation which is the typical operation for a filter operation. In addition, standby power is up to six times lower than competitors’ DSPs. These power levels will be a huge battery advantage in portable devices. In addition to this, TI compared some numbers from published datasheet of competitors’ ARM® Cortex™-M4 devices at the same frequency and concluded that the active power levels for the C553x DSPs are two to three times better.
