C553x Overview Slide 7

Texas Instruments greatly values the software investments customers make and has made it very easy for them to be able to choose a processor for a complete platform. The C553x devices are software as well as pin to pin compatible offering the flexibility to customers for choosing the right processor for their applications. On this slide, the family begins with the C5532, which is available in 50 and 100 MHz and has low power consumption of less than 0.15 mW per MHz active power at 50 MHz and less than 0.22 mW per MHz at 100 MHz. It has a host of integrated peripherals, including serial interfaces like SPI, I2S, I2C, and UART. There is SD/eMMC for storage and lot of GPIOs. It also has an integrated analog LDO and 64 Kb of memory. All of this is encased in a 12 mm x 12 mm 0.8 mm pitch package, which is perfectly suited for applications like flow meters and sensors. As can be seen by progressing to the right, there is more integration and more peripherals are available in the devices, so the customer has more options to choose from. The C5533 and C5534 devices have all the features previously mentioned plus some extra peripherals like the high speed USB 2.0 with PHY, additional LDOs, and more memory, which is suitable for audio and voice applications. Continuing up the scale is the C5535, which is the super set device with 320 KB memory, integrated LCD controller, SAR ADC, and FFT coprocessor will add faster and more energy efficient single processing, which is ideal for applications in the portable medical space and also audio devices with more advanced features.
