DisplayPort Overview Slide 19
The PTN3392 is a dual lane DisplayPort to VGA bridge supporting resolutions up to WUXGA. The block diagram here shows the Flash inside the chip. As DisplayPort evolves, industry sees interoperability issues time and again. The unique feature of PTN3392 is that the integrated Flash can be re-programmed to upgrade the firmware to support any new developments or support new interoperability issues. This unique feature provides flexibility which can save immense time, money and end customer frustration when a dongle fails to work. The re-programming is done through the DisplayPort connector over the AUX channel requiring no external hardware or components. This ‘Flash-over-Aux’ feature is like an insurance policy to the dongle makers in cases where it would fail to work in the future because of any potential interoperability issues.
